There is space for 10 participants. Welcome!
Authentic Movement is a simple exercise based on presence, observation, free movement and encountering of another human being. Originally developed in the field of dance and movement therapy, Authentic Movement is also widely utilised in a variety of other contexts as well. In this workshop, Authentic Movement is a tool for self-exploration and an invitation to become present with others.
In the workshop we will do Authentic Movement in Yö Gallery space and talk about our experience with the group participating.
Authentic Movement happens from the place of here and now. The exercise involves everything present within one's own body, the conditions of the surrounding environment and other people in the space and their effect on oneself.
In the time of fragmented or collapsed stories of meaning, being present with the body and as a body might provide some glimpses into a way of existing as a living being that feels deeply meaningful.
Built in the framework of Authentic Movement there is a striving to encounter another human being in a respectful and compassionate way, without judgment. The exercise includes mutuality and a sense of taking responsibility - when doing the exercise, I commit to being present and holding space for somebody else, and vice versa. Authentic Movement might provide a peek into an observation of another human being always being much more than what I could interpret or imagine them to be.
During the workshop, it is possible to see inside the gallery space from the street, but nobody except the participants can enter the gallery space during the workshop.
The workshop is suitable for anybody interested in body and movement. No previous experience about Authentic Movement is needed in order to participate. No specific movement ability is needed. Information about the accessibility of the space can be found here: https://www.yory.fi/en/accessibility-and-principles-safer-space
