lör 19.11.2022 17:00 - 19:00
lör 26.11.2022 17:00 - 19:00

When? Saturday 12th, 19th and 26th of November at 5-7pm
Where? at Yö Galleria and online (zoom)

Ekphrastic poetry, poetry written in relation to other works of art, is a way of engaging with the multiple senses of artistic expression through language. Ekphrastic poems correspond with another work, connecting the poet through language and imagination with the depth of expression available in other mediums. You may write about the characters depicted in a painting and how you imagine the moments before and after that of the work. You might assume the voice of the artist, or an element (human or otherwise) within the inspiring piece. You might explore the socio-political context of the creation of the work, or its resonance across history and time, or write about your own experience connecting with the work. Over three sessions we’ll read some ekphrastic poems in English (or in translation to English) for inspiration, and compose our own ekphrastic poems.

We warmly invite everyone who is feeling inspired by the theme of the course, and you are very welcome also
if your mother tongue is not English!
