Art-mediation “Black or White” with Alena Tereshko

18.8. Sunday 2 pm
exhibition “Wounds”
YÖ gallery (Lönnrotinkatu 33, 00180 Helsinki)

Art-mediation is a method of collective discussion that aims to go deeper in making meanings in art, appreciating it and investigating emotions and thoughts that it brings out.

In this exhibition, artists explore the pressing issues of contemporary society that resonate with many today. In their works, they delve into themes such as the black-and-white perception of the world, the fragmentation of human identity, xenophobia as reflected in artificial intelligence, the fragility of happiness in a consumer-driven era, and the loss of connection with nature. These issues evoke a sense of anxiety, yet art provides a safer space for engaging in meaningful dialogue on complex topics. This is precisely the kind of dialogue that art mediation seeks to foster.

With a group of people (5-15 persons) we will discuss and try to interpret the presented works. We also have the possibility to compare our thoughts with artists themselves, present at the event (Jussi Pyky and Juha Sääski).
