Memorable thoughts
6.-19.9.2024
Tue-Fri 14-19, Sat-Sun 12-17
I can see the themes of my works in my mind. However, the ideas that arise from them have not yet become fully clear to me. I am waiting for the moment of realisation. Realisations lead to joy.
I return involuntarily to the memories I have made important. Memories can take on an exaggerated significance and
thus bind one's being and thinking to the past. Even beautiful encounters can create expectations that can be difficult to achieve in the future.
I am drawn to the exhilaration of the exhibition. My works contain observations of people and moments around me.
Aleksi Martikainen (b.1984) is a visual artist working in sculpture and moving image.
His motorised sculptures are subtle attempts to reach out for a restful emotion and joy.
The exhibition has been supported by Arts Promotion Centre Finland.
