Heijastumia: Tiheäsalo-Mustonen-Luokkanen

Reflections is a series of concerts focusing on repetition and difference in improvised music. Topias Tiheäsalo (guitar), Teemu Mustonen (drums) and Matti Luokkanen (saxophones and clarinet) start the series.

Topias Tiheäsalo is a guitarist living in Turku who plays improvised music in a different way in forms. Some of his playing can be described as experimental music or free for improvisation, also knows how to free-jazz, that, for example, the art of sounds. Maybe it's about is simply just that – a call. Tiheäsalo also plays in the bands of Pekka Laine and Lau Nau, makes film music and presents a live experimental film with Pauliina Mäkelä under the name Kultapalmut.

Matti Luokkanen is a wind player who is interested in improvisation and acoustic free jazz. The class plays e.g. in the band Fågelbörs.

Teemu Mustonen is an improvising percussionist and a music pedagogue who has studied e.g. At Malmö University's jazz department and at the jazz department of the Sibelius Academy. He explores the possibilities brought by the drum set and its preparation in the context of free improvisation. Teemu has performed and recorded with the top names in Finnish jazz and improvised music, the latest collaboration with Raoul Björkenheim, Mikko Innan and Juhani Aaltonen released in autumn 2021
