Starlings, Tragedies. Group Exhibition of Poetry
August 17–27, 2023
Vernissage on Wednesday, August 16, from 5 pm to 7 pm
Artists: Lauri Hei, L. V. Maa, Unne Nirhamo, Henrik Pathirane & Verna Joki, Kaija Rantakari, Hanna Syrjämäki
The artworks in the exhibition are interconnected through the themes of close observation, fluctuation, and indeterminacy. They delve into the realms of biology, human nature, and interspecies relations, exploring states of existence that transcend traditional taxonomies and clear-cut categories. There is fusion and a search for connection, there is movement between modes of perception, and lingering in the gaps between these modes, the ever-shifting, unsteady motion of gaze and thought.
On display are forms of poetry and exhibition-based literature, such as poetry objects and video poetry, as well as works based on the dialogue between text, photography, painting, and sound.
The exhibition is curated by Hanna Syrjämäki, Henrik Pathirane and Unne Nirhamo, and it is part of Runokuu / Poetry Moon festival.
