There are places and non-places, people and absence of people. Traces – traces from before the time of humankind studied after the time of humankind. Transient and drowning lifestyles; streets emptied in seconds. There is someone who records, and another one seeking to understand.
The exhibition Hiljaisuudet hitaita pyörteitä reflects on the retreating human world and the possibility of meaning in this moment and in the coming ruins.
With the exhibition, a work consisting of a booklet and a poster, Hiljaisuudet hitaita pyörteitä, will be published, and it will be on sale in the gallery for the duration of the exhibition. The exhibition features an animation and a book installation.
Verna Joki (1988) is a Helsinki-based visual artist. Graduated from the Academy of the Fine Arts of the University of the Arts Helsinki in 2021, Joki has held several solo exhibitions in Finnish art galleries. The Finnish State Art Deposit Collection includes Joki’s works.
Henrik Pathirane (1987) is a poet and doctoral researcher in aesthetics, whose previous poetry book, olem (Poesia 2021), deals with the sharedness of being. Pathirane has participated in several group exhibition in Finnish art galleries.
